Grid to Go privacy policy

Grid to Go ("the app") is made by Turmeriq Labs LLP, India ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app uses, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. In short: we use your data only to run the app. We don't show ads, sell your data or track you across other apps.

What we collect and why

Your account

The app creates an account for you automatically the first time you open it. You don't sign in, and we don't ask for your name, email address or phone number. The account is identified only by a random code (shown in the app as your support code). We use it to keep your scan balance, to apply offers such as free scans fairly, and to look into a problem you report.

Your account is linked to the app on your phone. If you change phones or uninstall the app, your account, unused scans and saved crosswords may not come with you (your phone's own backup or transfer tools sometimes carry them across).

Crossword photos

When you scan a crossword, the photo is sent to our server and on to Anthropic, the AI provider that reads the grid and clues. Photos are deleted as soon as the scan is finished. The scan result (the grid and clues) is kept on our server for 30 days, so you can report a problem with it, and is then deleted automatically.

Your puzzles

Scanned puzzles and the letters you fill in are stored on your phone, not on our server.

Scans and purchases

We keep a record of your scan balance and how it changed: scans used, scans bought, free scans received and scans returned after a problem report. Purchases are made through Google Play (or Apple's App Store), which handles payment. We never see your card or bank details; we receive confirmation of what you bought.

Problem reports and feedback

If you report a problem with a scan, we receive the reason you choose, anything you write and, only if you choose to include it, the scanned grid and clues (never the letters you've filled in). If you send feedback by email, we receive your email address and message; the app adds your app version, phone model and support code so we can help.

Device and security information

To prevent abuse of free offers and to keep the service secure, we may use your device's platform security checks (such as Google Play Integrity) and basic technical data such as app version, operating system and error logs.

Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers that help us run the app, and only for that purpose:

We may also disclose data if the law requires it. We don't sell personal data or share it for advertising.

Where your data is processed

Your data is processed in India and, through the providers above, in other countries including the USA. We use providers that protect data under their own security and privacy commitments.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and its scan balance history while the account exists. Photos are deleted when the scan is finished, and scan results after 30 days. Problem reports are kept until they're resolved and for a reasonable period afterwards. When you delete your account, we delete all of this, except records of purchases, which we keep only as long as the law requires (for example for tax and accounting).

Your rights and choices

Age requirement

Grid to Go is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we'll delete their data.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections. Our AI provider key is kept on our server, never in the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
